How do I get a pharmacy license in Florida?

Here are the requirements for obtaining a Florida pharmacist license.

You’ll need to present degree from a pharmacy school or college accredited by an accrediting body that is recognized and authorized by the Office of Education of the United States. Form A or official transcripts must be submitted directly from the university otherwise they will not be accepted. Also, you need a total of 2080 hours of an internship program approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy. If you have graduated after January 1, 2001 with a Pharm.D, you will only need to submit FORM A. There is no need to submit FORM B. If you graduated with your B.S. or Pharm. D. before January 1, 2001, you will be asked to submit both FORM A and FORM B.

If you have served for one year or more as a licensed pharmacist in another state, you must only demonstrate your work experience to fulfill the 2080-hour requirement. Please ask your employer to complete form B.

Also, you’ll need to submit a notarized statement with your Form B attesting your ownership of the pharmacy if you are self-employed as a pharmacist.

How long does it take to become a pharmacist in Florida?

In order to practice, pharmacists in Florida have to be certified. One must earn the Doctor of Pharmacy degree and pass the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) in order to obtain licensure. Florida also requires applicants to pass the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE). A traditional pharmacy program is four years long. Can you become a pharmacist without going to pharmacy school?
